Ford’s Heritage Collection is home to some of the rarest vehicles the Blue Oval has ever produced. While it’s not the most powerful collection, there are a few hidden gems — like an original sixth-generation Bronco prototype, the world’s only V-10-powered Mustang, and some rare Ford GT supercars.
Now, for the first time, Ford is offering one of these extremely rare vehicles to the public. The automaker will send the 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition to the auction block at the upcoming Barrett-Jackson Fall 2025 auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. It will cross the block without any reserve.
This special GT Heritage Edition is one of only 343 examples built for the 2006 model year to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Ford’s historic 1-2-3 finish at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans. It features the famous Gulf paint that was painstakingly applied by hand, including the roundels.
Under the hood is the same supercharged 5.4-liter V-8 found in all Ford GT models of the era. It produces 550 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque, mated to a six-speed manual transmission, just as God intended. The interior is trimmed in black leather with subtle vintage-inspired touches to complement the exterior design.
This particular car is the third GT Heritage Edition ever built, and has been used sparingly for marketing and media purposes. However, it does have some history, with minor damage to the rear and undercarriage. However, both issues were fixed to Ford’s own quality standards.
With just 8,345 miles on the odometer, this GT is one of the least expensive examples we’ve ever seen. The winning bidder will receive a Certificate of Authenticity as well as a build book documenting the car’s production in detail – from start to finish.
Proceeds from the sale will go directly back to supporting Ford’s Heritage Collection, which consists of more than 500 vehicles that require regular upkeep and upkeep – not a cheap endeavor. While it’s difficult to predict exactly what this rare GT will fetch — especially with no reserve — previous Heritage Editions have sold for between $680,000 and $1.2 million.
We expect this to approach the million-dollar mark.
