It looks like Toyota has big plans for next Monday in Japan. A teaser site notes that the automaker will make several announcements across all of its brands, including GR, Crown, and yes, even Daihatsu.
Toyota hasn’t revealed the details of what it plans to reveal, but the landing page offers some hints we can read up on. He says (translator):
“The sign at Fuji Expressway has changed.” On the left is the 2000GT. Next to it is LFA. And besides…?
It is associated with Toyota Times YouTube channel for the live stream (embedded below) — but that’s about it. We’re interested in what Toyota will announce, but in light of recent news of a revived sports car, it’s unlikely the company will mention the 2000GT and LFA.
Monday could provide our first look at Toyota’s new GR GT3 race car, which previews the future Lexus LFR. Toyota Racing president David Wilson previously hinted that the car would make its debut at the 2026 Daytona 24 Hours in January, which is less than four months away, and we still haven’t seen the racer.
The GR GT3 should arrive before hitting the road Lexus Equivalent, but we may get a look at the sports car in some form on Monday. The luxury brand recently revealed a not-so-subtle concept that bears a striking resemblance to the prototypes we spotted during testing.
The company did not reveal any details about the specifications, but the prototypes that the automaker is testing have been spotted with yellow stickers, indicating the presence of… Hybrid powertrain probably. The battery pack will likely be coupled to the V-8 engine.
either way, Toyota He has a lot he can announce in a few days. Hopefully we’ll know more about the GT3 and LFR, but the automaker may have completely different plans. GR, Daihatsu, and Crown were also listed. So stay tuned next week for details.
