Love it or hate it, the split grille introduced by Mercedes-Benz in New GLC He’s not going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, more Mercedes models are expected to get large, bright grilles over the next few years. But unlike the GLC, the new Vision Iconic concept wears the new look well –very Good.
The Vision Iconic grille is a reinterpretation and homage to the brand’s previous radiator grilles. Here, though, it uses a chrome surround, a smoked glass grille, and ambient lighting that looks kind of gaudy, but it’s a lot more luxurious than the GLC’s jumbo grille, at least.
The rest of the concept looks like something Cruella de Vil would drive. Its body has a striking resemblance to the 1938 Mercedes-Benz 540K Autobahn Kurier. Iconic 300SLAt the same time, it influenced the rear, while Mercedes used the W108, W111 and 600 Pullman models as inspiration for the grille.
Inside, the Art Deco influence continues with a floating glass structure for the dashboard, which Mercedes calls Zeppelin, a stylish four-spoke steering wheel, and Artificial Intelligence Companion. There is blue velvet on the seat and blue straw inlay on the floor, a decorative technique dating back to the 17th century that saw a revival in the 1920s.

According to the company, this coating on a midsize SUV can generate enough power to add up to 7,450 miles of range per year in ideal conditions. It also gives the coupe a sinister look.
Vision Iconic also features neuromorphic computing. It is a computing architecture designed to function like a human brain, allowing AI calculations to be performed faster and more efficiently. Mercedes says it can use processing power to improve traffic sign recognition, identify other cars, and reduce the power requirements of automated driving.
The Vision Iconic has Level 4 autonomy and automatic parking capabilities, allowing passengers to relax during the journey. It also “gives its customers time” because they don’t have to worry about parking.
The car is currently just a concept, but it’s possible we’ll see that The grille In different styles and other design cues in future Mercedes models, such as the upcoming S-Class EV. We hope the Vision Iconic becomes a production model, but we doubt a large electric coupe will have mass appeal. Maybe a V-8 will change that.
