Do you remember Saleen? The American supercar maker is behind wild creations like the S7 and S5S Raptor The concept is still there – believe it or not. The company is currently building the S1 sports car in China, and is now promising a new supercar that fans can help design.
Saleen It quietly revealed a concept for its upcoming S11 supercar in Tacoma, Washington, where the car is currently on display at the LeMay Museum. The car was featured as part of an exhibit called “The Birth of the American Supercar” curated by Steve Saleen himself.
The full-size clay model offers a glimpse of what Saleen’s upcoming supercar might look like – a sleek, futuristic two-door with massive wheels and a striking red finish. However, the design is still a work in progress at the moment.
Saleen actually wants you, the reader, to help finish the look. The company encourages museum visitors to select specific design elements for the exterior and interior that can be incorporated into the final production design.
“It is an honor to display our S11 design for the first time at the LeMay-America Auto Museum, and gives us an opportunity to hear from American supercar enthusiasts at the show and around the world through a special American Idle voting opportunity,” Saleen said in a statement. “Throughout the year, we will offer design options to participating enthusiasts, and they can choose which design details will end up in our final product.”
Details like pricing and powertrain specifications have yet to be announced, but the company promises that everything about the new model will be “louder” than any other supercar on the market. Our best guess? A loud, naturally aspirated V-8 paired with a manual transmission—in true Saleen style.
Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait a little longer to see it on the road. Saleen says its new supercar is set to make its official debut within the next 12 months.
