The latest version of the Honda Passport is a major upgrade over its predecessor. When i Drove the TrailSport model Through the mountains of Puerto Rico, it proved capable, comfortable, and quite impressive all around. At this year’s SEMA Show, Honda took its rugged crossover even further.
Honda Racing (HRC) has given the Passport significant upgrades in terms of exterior appearance and performance. The powerful crossover features matte Thermal Orange paint with a contrasting black roof and custom wheels, along with redesigned bumpers that improve approach and departure angles.
Additional lighting – including fog lights, side camp lights, roof light bar, ditch lights and rear chase lights – enhances visibility on the road. HRC also added an 8,000-pound winch and built-in air compressor, making this Passport ready for serious off-road adventures.
Aluminum skid plates have been extended to provide additional underbody protection – now protecting the center bearing, prop shaft and rear drive unit – while new front and rear dampers are coupled with a custom exhaust system. The Passport also rides higher thanks to a 60mm (about 2.4 inch) suspension lift, and the tires have an inch larger diameter than stock.
HRC didn’t stop at the exterior. Inside, the cabin has blue Alcantara inserts, HRC badges and new accessory mounting plates throughout. We’re unlikely to see a TrailSport in this extreme form in Honda showrooms anytime soon, but it’s a build worth dreaming about.
And Honda isn’t finished yet. This year Sima At the show, the automaker is also showcasing the rally-ready Civic concept, the Integra Type S HRC concept, and a selection of race cars and Trophy trucks.
