The 2025 SEMA Show is starting soon. A few automakers use this event to highlight revised versions of their product lineup. There’s a little something for everyone; You are likely to find heavily modified machines Next to aftermarket wheel and tire options.
However, the best SEMA builds come when the automaker remembers its heritage and finds a new way to celebrate what makes it great. Toyota clearly knows this, because the automaker created the FJ60 Land Cruiser with modern i-Force power.

But for my money, the FJ60 is the perfect bridge between vintage off-road vehicles and their modern counterparts. It’s boxy but beautiful, and Toyota is making a smart choice here, using it as a platform for this design.

However, it doesn’t stop at the powertrain, as Toyota also gives the FJ60 a design and capability edge. It’s longer thanks to a 1.5-inch suspension and 35-inch tires. The silver paint is an exact replica of the Toyota color from 1986. There is a Turbo badge at the back. Meanwhile, the sound in the cabin is enhanced thanks to a state-of-the-art JBL audio system.
As a complete package, the Toyota Turbo Trail Cruiser Concept works great. These exterior upgrades give it an aggressive look, while the powertrain delivers the power to back it up.

If there was a Mount Rushmore of automotive icons, I think we could agree on a few legends that deserve the honor. Porsche 911? naturally. Some may raise their hand in favor of the Mazda Miata. I think another place should be occupied by the Toyota Land Cruiser. Even if you’re not a fan, it’s undeniable that it remains an enduring symbol of adventure and reliability around the world.
Maybe the Turbo Trail Cruiser would trade some of that reliability for a dose of modern power. Regardless, it’s a rad rest mod done right.
