He’s finally here. Toyota The new Land Cruiser FJ unveiled its new car ahead of this year’s Japanese Mobility Expo. The prospective off-roader is about 11 inches shorter than the Land Cruiser 250, giving buyers a smaller, more affordable option – except for those who live in America.
The new Land Cruiser FJ shares a platform with Toyota’s Hilux Champ, is not available in the U.S., and is about 11 inches shorter than the LC 250. The SUV is 180.1 inches long, 73.0 inches tall, and 77.17 inches wide, with a 101.6-inch wheelbase.
It features the same 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine as the pickup, making 161 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque, which delivers power through part-time all-wheel drive and a six-speed transmission.
These are not impressive enough statistics for America, and they don’t come here anyway. said Masaya Uchiyama, chief engineer car news, “No plans for America or Europe.”

like Hilux championToyota has made the new FJ customizable, offering MOLLE panels for attaching equipment. The photos also show the SUV with a snorkel. It also has removable front and rear corner bumpers, which allow only damaged parts to be replaced, improving repairability.
The SUV has a traditional, boxy design that borrows styling cues from the larger Land Cruiser. It’s cute, with round headlights, thick upholstery, and a rear-mounted spare tire. Inside, the FJ looks like a Toyota, with a large gear selector and a horizontally oriented display on the massive dashboard.
Toyota doesn’t offer much more than the basic specifications for the new FJ. Toyota plans to launch it in Japan around mid-2026, with the SUV making its debut at the Japan Mobility Expo starting later this month.
