The 2025 Japan Mobility Expo will be a real treat if you are a fan of funky cars. Lexus has just upset A A boxy and wacky LS-based pickup truckbut another member of the Toyota empire is also preparing to make an interesting debut. Century, the virtually leading brand, offers this stunning coupe.
Since 1967, Century has represented the pinnacle of luxury automobiles in Japan, including a second-generation model featuring Toyota’s only V-12 engine. Then he came SUVs In 2023, and now there are clear signs of a coupe on the way. It is described as a “one of one”, suggesting that it is either a concept or a custom design for a wealthy client. Either way, the world’s largest automaker seems intent on experimenting with new body styles under the banner of the century.
Radically different from last century’s models, this coupe features sliding doors and no B-pillars. We assume it has rear seats since the passenger side has a shorter sliding tailgate. Upon closer inspection, some teasers suggest a central driving position. Oh, and a rectangular steering “wheel.”
Elsewhere, Toyota appears to have taken a page from Polestar’s book by removing the rear window. The dual-layer headlights and taillights come off Genesis emotions, while the hood vents raise questions about whether there is a combustion engine hiding underneath. The large grille emblazoned with the golden phoenix logo does not appear to be fully closed, which also suggests an ICE setup.

The unique car looks majestic and unusually long for a coupe. The curvy roofline likely limits rear headroom, and there are no Toyota badges anywhere, befitting Century’s status as a separate brand positioned above Lexus.
If a production version is released, it may not remain exclusive to Japan. Toyota has already expressed its ambition to take Century global. Historically, sedans have been largely limited to the domestic market, but SUVs are now sold in China, and reports indicate the Century model family is expanding to multiple regions.
The unnamed Century Coupe will be unveiled at the end of the month during the Japan Mobility Expo. In addition, Toyota’s flagship brand is expected to debut the Corolla concept that could preview the next-generation model.
