The “Re:Nissan” recovery plan is not limited to cutting twenty thousand jobs, closing seven factories, closing two design studios, and implementing other strict cost-cutting measures. It’s also about new products. We have already seen the new paper and Centraalong with the promise of the return of the Xterra in 2028. And there’s more where that came from: Today brings the dual’s debut. Better yet, neither of them is just another SUV.
The N6 and Teana are two sedans targeting a market where traditional three-box saloons still have a strong appeal: China. The N6 is a plug-in hybrid developed by local Dongfeng Nissan joint venture, while the Teana is a full Nissan effort based on the Altima. The N6 looks almost identical to last year’s electric N7 Sedan, while the Teana exudes Peugeot 508 vibes while maintaining the familiar Altima image.
Powering the N6 is a 1.5-litre petrol engine mated to an electric motor that draws power from a 21.1 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery said to be the largest in its class. Technical details of the Teana have not yet been released, but a ‘VC-Turbo’ badge on the trunk confirms it uses Nissan’s variable compression engine.
It is worth noting that Altima It has dropped the 2.0-liter VC-Turbo option in the US for 2025. When the Teana appeared in Chinese regulatory filings earlier this year, it was also listed with a much less powerful base engine for the entry-level version that produces just 142 hp, about 100 hp less than the turbocharged variant.
