A 1000 mile wild trip across Italy in Polstar 3

But what I saw was an opportunity to put the ideals on the fire of EV Street. Two questions had to be answered: Can you take a road on the road to EV for a long, 12 hours a day, a five -day march without worrying about shipping? More importantly, will it be fun?

For those who are not aware, Mille Miglia is a historical gathering that has used to work the endurance until 1957, when death and safety forced to temporarily close. However, I, Michael van Ronkel, was determined to overcome the competitive stages to see if EV deserves to stumble on the road. It will be a test of the infrastructure for charging Italy, the POLESTAR 3 group and its efficiency, and whether the fun of the open road is dwindling due to the need to ship.
Mille will start in the northern Italian city of Brescia, heading to the bottom of Tuscany to Rome, then sliding along the eastern coast of Italy to Brickia – a road of 1000 miles, covered over a period of five days.

Every day he had his own road book with checkpoints and specific instructions. Each road book warned of 14 hours of driving, with average lengths of the stage 320 km, starting at 5:00 am and ends at 7:00 pm-a far away from the Stirling MOSS 1955 record of 10 hours, 7 minutes and 48 seconds for the entire race.

Polestar 3 was sometimes beautiful, sometimes very annoying to others. Despite all its calmness and comfort, with excellent and supportive seats, technology was frustrated. Make a single central screen that most functions make it difficult for simple tasks, which is something that we noticed with a very similar system in Volvo EX30. The answer to the above questions: Was this gathering possible in Polstar 3? Yes, it was. We got to the end, even with the infrastructure of shipping. The anxiety range during the day was almost not present. The actual issue was that Mille was designed for gas cars, not EVS. The shortest days have proven easy and enjoyable, while the long days were made for a longer period of hours of shipping in anticipation of tomorrow’s stage.

But was Mille fun in EV? Well, I thought about this deeply while I was staring at the crew of two people treating Bentley 1930 with a mountainous repulsion, and I got out of the hellish thing to operate its various controls.
