BMW has ‘huge demand’ for the M2 CS. But it will be difficult to get it

BMW has clearly hit the big time with the 2026 M2 CS. The M2 generation of the G87 offers serious driving fun, but the CS version takes things up a notch. It’s an attractive feature for BMW fans, as news suggests the car is expected to sell out quickly.

according to BMW BlogBMW confirmed that all allocations sent to the Japanese market have been sold. This would be a narrow set of 87 examples. At the same time, the American market will receive the largest shipment of Bavaria’s best products. The automaker usually doesn’t reveal exact numbers for CS models. However, there are still people who are good at knowing production numbers.

BMW likely plans to build fewer than 2,000 M2 CS models in total. Of that total, BMW Blog It is believed that about 300 will end up in the United States. BMW says it may have to adjust production numbers based on what the automaker describes as huge demand. We haven’t heard of BMW taking any such action.

BMW offers the M2 CS in four colors: Velvet Blue, Brooklyn Grey, Sapphire Black and Portimao Blue. To let other BMW enthusiasts know that your M2 is an extra special machine, the automaker has finished the wheels in matte golden bronze.

It’s easy to see why this car demands such affection. BMW is packing a 523-hp twin-turbocharged six-cylinder into the front of a compact machine. There is no hybrid power delivery support. There’s no all-wheel drive to dampen the fun. Instead, the M2 CS remains a true sports car, dedicated to providing true driving pleasure. The G87 M2 generation may also be a transmission of such cars. BMW continues to add complexity to its larger M models. Competitive models are disappearing. There is greater use of hybrid powertrains and all-wheel drive. These changes don’t mean the larger M models aren’t fun. However, the experience is not quite the same.

We’ll have to wait and see what the M2’s future looks like. But it is very easy to see that such a high demand for the current version shows that many customers want as much of a first driving experience as modern equipment allows.
