How to use the Alps AI to design its future cars

The Alps France changes. In 2017, it returned decades with decades with the A110 sports car – a small, brilliant, attractive machine that is happy with drivers throughout Europe.

now, Alpine Mountains It expands in the area of EV. Renault 5 on the basis A290 Hot hatch provides electrical excitement, and the upcoming A390 SUV will mean that families can go quickly, look good, and do not burn any dinosaurs in this process.

The transition from one car to a lot, in addition to providing expansion in the United States and other regions, is not easy. As the euro -focused brand, how will its cars fit other markets? How will the company design the future?

Motor1 I caught with the design president, Anthony Villan, at the Goodwood Festival for speed to learn more.

“I think it is a very exciting time because there is a major shift in this industry, and he has this expansion in such a short time … it is very difficult,” says the villain.

He not only talks about the number of cars, but also the size of his design team: “Four years ago, we were a team of ten people, but now, we move from a car to more, you need to find talents. It is very rare for me to have the opportunity to build the team almost from scratch.” Today, it works with a team of 50.

He said that the villain was looking for him, he was not simply looking for a job, but for an adventure. There is a large group of talent there, and with the growth of a brand in several ways, it seems that he had a group choice. He was not looking for good people in only one thing.

“I would like to have people from a slightly Swiss army knife,” he says. “People who are able to do a lot of different things: they can design cars, but some of them are photographers, presenters and directors … Others make mechanics on their own cars, because in a small team I want everyone to contribute 150 percent of their basic skills.”

The reason for this, unlike, perhaps, more interesting conversations about what they all woke up at the weekend, is because of what they will do all. The team is not only for car design, but to a large extent everything related to the University of Alpine.

“We are working with communication with marketing. We are promoting. We are working on Le Mans. We are working with Formula One. We are helping in showrooms – I need people who are able to play in any field.”

Villain realizes that there is a lot that will come – a large number of cars, brands, moghy, and much – he knows that it may seem like a long -standing request. It is important, as the team feels like a family. They are so close that they host parties and go to leave together.

With a large talented team in its place, Villain’s all has been set for the next five, ten and fifteenth design … but many years of the Alps. But how will he do that? The technology available today is the league championships before it was shown ten years ago.

“We use the old school technique: clay, pencil drawings,” he says. “But at the same time, we use artificial intelligence, the whole digital world, VR, AR, daily.”

Although artificial intelligence represents a difficult problem in various creative spaces, a recent study of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology showed that excessive relying on it can rotten your mind, Albine says it has its place. The villain believes that those who oppose this will miss in the coming years.

“The acceleration (of artificial intelligence) is so strong that you cannot continue to do things as it was. But not everyone will be able to use artificial intelligence in the same way.”

We use old school technology: clay, pencil drawings. But at the same time, we use artificial intelligence, the whole digital world, VR, AR, daily.

It is very similar to the art of pen and paper, not everyone can collect it evenly, or the same standard. The important thing is to note here is that the villain does not indicate that the Alps for the year 2035 will put the cars designed by Chatgpt. Instead, it uses it as a tool to help the process.

“You can create a lot of accidents,” the villain notes, and this is a base of creativity. Not only in artificial intelligence, but in everything you have to create tension, create chaos to produce creativity from it. AI is able to create a kind of visual chaos. “

When every member of a team draws a few wheels a day, this team will then have a handful to go to it, you can now help AI in generating 2000. This … a lot, but with discipline, you can discover what is required and work with it to get the desired result. This is just the beginning of the use of artificial intelligence in the industry, and its publication gives the design teams effectively such as Alpine’s A Mister.

“It can really give a new dimension to the designers, and it will not replace them,” the villain adds.

However, the old school method is still working. Villain notes that although you can train AI to adapt to your style and to help create a major drawing, the pen is still stronger than the processor.

“Leave the players use the tools they want if they deliver the correct idea. Sometimes, there are young people who only draw one (hand) and this is the next car.”

The generation of the Alps may have some of the help of artificial intelligence to reach the laptop to Lynn, but how will it look?

Villain notes the overwhelming impact of owners of Chinese original equipment, independent technology, and screen walls, but this is not what is going on around the Alps. It is actually the opposite: “We do not have to follow directions. It gives a different location for the brand. We embrace technology, but we do not use it in the same way. We use it to drive and not lead it.”

The expansion of the Alps in the United States is currently suspended (guessing the reason), but when (if) go ahead, how will cars look like? The Alps is a French brand that makes French cars for Europeans, which means that even its largest offers – upcoming SUVs A390 – are somewhat small according to the standards of the United States.

“When you design cars mainly for Europeans, you are trying to find the best group in one car. You are trying to get a coupe, intersection, family car, and performance car, to one object,” says the villain. “When you go to the United States, they have more cars for one use.”

It is noted that some people will get a job, a sports car for fun, the X for the purpose of Y, etc.

Alpine cars will be distinctive in the Alps, whether they are for sale in the United States or Europe. They will be manufactured for people who want a French thing, something fun, and something a little different from what exists.

It will be designed by a multi -position team … with a little artificial intelligence.
