Hurasio Pagani still cannot wait for the future: an interview

Horacio Pagani has a lot he is proud of. When he was a young man, he moved from Argentina to Italy, then built a carbon fiber kingdom. Along his journey, Pagani has investigated new lands in the manufacture of vehicles, put a high -sized water -building mark, and helped Hypercar invention.

Big Zonda that has an unparalleled Zonda with a pair of masterpieces was built, Huayra and Utopia. After more than 25 years have passed since the first prominent car, while we sit for an interview in a beautifully appointed wing overlooking the Monza front-where she could not blame the new Signore Pagani on an easy chair and adapting to its limits.

But after covering these early landmarks in a rare individual interview, Hurasio Baghani was imprisoned, and he had never talked to speak more than he dreamed of the future. Pagani’s future wide open, and perhaps full of possibilities than ever.

As is the case with us modern Interview with Alois RuffWe have proven our conversation with a large -scale Pagani. From the concentration of the laser on building a community among its owners of its cars – a process in which he participates deeply – to the paper that has not yet come, we have covered a lot of land.

But if one thing always keeps me excited about Pagani cars, this is exciting about what Horacio Pagani will think next.

The following is a question and answer between Hurasio Pagani and the contributor to Motor 1 Kyle Kenard. The interview was translated from Italian into English, and then edited for clarity, organization and continuity.

Kyle Kenard, Motor 1: We are here at Monza to check the arte in Pista, mainly a series of track days for Huayra R customers, and now Huayra R Evo Roadster. Like road cars, do you only get a special satisfaction for Ganes?

Horacio Pagani, Pagani Automobili: For me, it is easier to work on track cars because I can design and imagine more freely, let’s say, to meet this desire for freedom, right? Huayra R’s poem is that cars on the roads have a lot of strange complications due to symmetry, and very complex components. While cars are followed … it’s a fun game. With road cars, it is more difficult.

Motor1: It is also different in this case, because you are designing a car for the path, but not for the race. What are some of the nuances of these cars that show the difference?

Bagna: The Revo (Pagani title for Huayra R Evo and R Evo Roadster) is a car that corresponds to the first models race time. It is, in a certain way, a race car. Very fast.

But if you look at Revo Roadster, it contains an easier prize and the surface cutter. She says that our customers are really here to have a good time in ARTE in Pista; They do not want to compete against each other.

Therefore, we needed to provide a car that allowed drivers to make slight errors in this sense, without severe risks, and without severe consequences for errors.

Compared to a racing car, as you try to extract 100 percent of the speed, we try here 100 percent safety, and a 100 percent emotion. Then there is a sound (from the natural Rhodo Rhodester, 900 hp V-12), of course. We try to search for balance. This is the task.

“I am 69 years old and I am very curious to learn something new every day, which is energy and light like the candle that gives me.”

Motor1: Talking about balance, how is the car business on the road now? What are the ways in which there are two siblings that change in the future, or is it the issue of preserving the path?

Bagna: I would like the company to maintain the same path it was since its birth. We are really trying to get limited car production; In the history of Pagani, we produced less than 600 cars.

This is how you see, the numbers are very limited. We really try to make allowances for our customers. The dreams of our customers should be represented in the car. This is what we really want to do.

Motor1: But you also got your finger in many pancakes, so to speak. There is a manufacturing suite for Al -Baghani, and there are vehicles operating in the aviation, defense and private sectors. It is not only about building excessive cars. Does this need to continue expanding?

Bagna: In order for the company to be sustainable, it is all about investing in the future and investing in technology. Therefore, of course, Modena Design (Modena Design Company (Pagani’s brother, which Horacio started, was sold, and then brought home recently) with compound material research in the 1980s.

Today, Pagani has evolved into a company not only specializing in compound materials; Now we have vertical knowledge and the workforce internally, for example, to design and build the suspension and the steering wheel on pagan Utopia. The difference between the car was developed by men internally in Baghan.

In the past, we did not have this ability. Now it is all about the formation of the workforce, about developing the skills of these people. We have 15 designers working in the design studio in Bagani, where I am trying to teach my experience for a new generation of designers. The result is that we differentiate in other areas such as flying or biomedic, because these young designers are very hungry to express their creativity.

“In order for the company to be sustainable, it is all about investing in the future and investing in technology.”

Motor1: right. So by combining manufacturing vertically and Engineers, designers, and the like, naturally have the ability to branch and sell this experience?

Bagna: CERTO.

Motor1: But there is still some uncertainty when it comes to legislation, definitions, and the like. Does this uncertainty make you tense? Or is it just a standard boutique industry, which is part of the excessive decision -building function?

Bagna: I would like to say that small car manufacturers are more confused than nervous. As with the proposed combustion engine of 2035, in my opinion, it is more political than already sustainable.

It is not the matter that companies like Mercedes-Benz, Ferrari, BMW and Toyota do not have knowledge; They can achieve this. They have resources. But the very confusing thing is that they have to work on different paths, such as saying, a full hybrid or electric car or hydrogen.

In the end, each company does a great job, it is achieving a specific project, but the customer will never pay for them. Therefore, companies are not rewarded for investing and working behind it. The product contradicts customer desires.

Therefore, it is very confusing that in one minute, everything changes and must start again.

You must understand any direction to work, everything you produce in the world. You should be able to plan, in some way, to ensure that the direction you take is correct.

Motor1: Among the three or four times that you visited Pahan, it always seems to be a direction. You have all this ability under one roof and continue to expand it. This should be delighted as an engineer, even with political and organizational challenges.

What excites you from the future?

Bagna: I am 69 years old and I am very curious to learn something new every day, which is energy and light like the candle that gives me.

At my life, after working a lot, something I still really love is the car. I am still very excited about cars. Of course, pagan cars are my job, but all other cars mean something for me. I am very emotional when I buy a new car, for example.

I want to continue to study the life of Leonardo Da Vinci. Now, when I am in Milan, I have a large collection of books where I study the life of Leonardo. This is what eliminates me. Of course, working with people of different ages, and younger people, it is a very stimulating and emotional thing.
