In defense of the automatic Toyota Gr Corolla


Some cars definitely You need a manual transmission. Purchase of automatic Mazda, for example, is an irreplaceable decision. Six -speed speeds are a large part, making this sports car very distinctive.

I recently criticized the new Volkswagen Golf GTI For the same reason – no longer provides evidence. The seven -speed transmission, which is great, is great, but it takes a lot of magic away from the car as synonymous with your gear blasphemy.

Other sports cars at reasonable prices fall in a similar category; Hyundai Elantra N and Subaru WRX and – as we learned – Toyota Gr86 is simply not good with automatic. Or in the case of Subaru, CVT.

Toyota Gr Corolla, though, is different. In fact, it might be completely good with automatic – maybe better. But before you get to Pitchforks, listen to me.

When Toyota was originally launched GR Corolla, the only transmission was a six -speed guide. It was an excellent gearbox – fast, fast to respond and direct – but it limited the market to militant lovers.

Although you can still buy Gr Corolla with a guide-and Toyota estimated that about 50 percent of its customers do so-Toyota has known that she needed to expand the hot Hatchback chard with an automatic option of 2025. Not, they did not use some ZF.

Automatic executives are definitely using phrases such as “inspired by the path” all the time, but in this case, Toyota engineers worked tirelessly to ensure that the automatic transmission feels that it is rupture of the path. And greatly, he does.

Buyers should also be happy with the fact that GR Corolla gets more torque from 2025, thanks to the new gearbox to a large extent. Toyota raised the development of 273 pounds last year to 295 pounds this year.

The truth, however, is that only a small part of buyers will already take Corolla to the path. This is true in most sports cars. Where you really want Corolla to feel privacy on the road – it should be exciting in a roundabout because it will be in Angeles Crest.

In this regard, Gr Corolla succeeds better than most. The high characteristics that make this transmission such a beloved on the path prove that he is loved on the road. It is recognized that the gearbox can feel some time sometimes-such as the golden recovery with a lot of energy. It is not necessarily necessary to be on the edge to run to the grocery store or trips to the doctor’s office, but even in its most easy -to -drive, there is no way to turn it out.

But unlike something like the gearbox in the GTI, which is often meaningless unless you are in the maximum, Gr Corolla does not need a mocked road that is ridiculed or a piece of high -speed pavement to feel fun. Even when overcoming the city, it is completely fun. This makes it very special.

For some, there is no convincing to them that the automatic-bid farewell on its own traditional torque, and not the double clutch-is a better option than evidence. And I get that. But on the market where the guide is less desirable than ever, it is good to have options – especially if these options are likely to open the door to a new generation of enthusiasts.
