The cheapest Jeep now costs more than $30,000


Jeep has taken an aggressive price correction strategy from next year. After increasing MSRP across the board during the COVID-19 pandemic amid declining sales, the company took measures to correct course. The automaker has lowered the starting price on several models, even admitting that it went too far in some cases. But even Jeep is not immune to rising costs.

For 2026, the compact Compass remains the brand’s entry-level model, but it’s also more expensive to get started. On the other end of the spectrum, the range-topping Grand Wagoneer is now $22,300 cheaper than before as it replaces the standard Wagoneer offering.

We don’t have prices yet for the electric Jeep Recon or the updated Grand Cherokee, which debuted last month. Jeep is refreshing its lineup as it attempts to reconnect with its core customers, who want value and off-road fun. The 2026 price reflects this, although we imagine buyers will always want a cheaper offer.

2026 Jeep Cherokee: $36,995

Under the hood is a 350-volt hybrid powertrain that combines a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with a dual-motor electronically controlled continuously variable transmission. Total output is 210 horsepower and 230 pound-feet of torque.

Despite all-new styling inside and out, as well as a hybrid powertrain, the 2026 Cherokee is $200 cheaper than the outgoing model, starting at $36,995. There are four models available, culminating with the range-topping Overland model, which is priced at $45,995.

Like the Wrangler Gladiator You also get a new Reign exterior color, but the rugged pickup continues unchanged from 2025. But the price doesn’t change. Pricing for the 2026 Gladiator Sport starts at $41,825, which is $1,135 more than the outgoing model.

The range beats the Mojave X and Rubicon X, which cost the same $63,995. The truck is equipped with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. There’s a good chance we’ll see a V-8 Gladiator soon too, as Stellantis returns to combustion power.

2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer: $64,740

Jeep reorganized Grand Wagoneer lineup for 2026, making the Grand Wagoneer more affordable while discontinuing the regular Wagoneer model. The Grand Wagoneer now starts at $64,740, down nearly $23,000 from the previous price.

Despite the price drop, the base engine remains the same, a Hurricane 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged six-cylinder that produces 420 horsepower and 468 pound-feet of torque. There’s also an extended-range model coming that uses a 3.6-liter, 120-kilowatt V-6 to charge the 92-kilowatt-hour battery pack. Power is 647 hp and 620 lb-ft.
